Identificar los elementos educativos en el texto indígena Popol Wuj que promuevan identidad y fomenten la protección del patrimonio fue una tarea compleja pero por demás gratificante. Siguiendo la teoría de Benjamin Lee Whorf (1971) que el lenguaje influía directamente en la forma de pensar, se tomaron cuatro versiones del Popol Wuj hechas por autores maya hablantes para identificar en sus mitos las formas de vida de todo un pueblo, de toda una cultura: la maya antigua y sus descendientes por más de cuatro mil de años. Establecer potenciales aplicaciones de los elementos educativos del Manuscrito con las líneas pedagógicas actuales se logró gracias al diseño y diagramación del manual enfocado a los docentes de nivel primario, para que ellos como encargados de la transmisión de conocimientos en los primeros años de estudio formal, tengan una herramienta didáctica con un gran contenido educativo. Revalorizar las formas de enseñanza ancestral se realizó a través de sus relatos reestructurándolos y agrupándolos (Lozano, 1998) en cuatro partes según el grado de complejidad y profundidad para fácil comprensión. De esta manera, se logrará promover identidad y fomentar la protección del patrimonio en los jóvenes educandos del nivel primario. Con la realización y difusión del manual producto de la investigación, se logró aplicar los elementos educativos del Popol Wuj para promover la protección del patrimonio cultural, documental e histórico que aún existe en un texto que estará disponible impreso a un limitado grupo de personas, digital, a toda la población interesada, poniendo en valor las formas de enseñanza ancestral.

Identifying the educational elements in the indigenous text Popol Wuj that promote identity and encourage the pro-tection of heritage was a complex but extremely rewarding task. Following Benjamin Lee Whorf's theory (1971) that language directly influenced the way of thinking, four versions of the Popol Wuj made by Mayan-speaking authors were taken to identify in their myths the ways of life of an entire people, of an entire culture: the ancient Mayan and their descendants for more than four thousand years. Establishing potential applications of the educational elements of the Manuscript with current pedagogical lines was achieved thanks to the design and layout of the manual focused on primary school teachers, so that they, as those in charge of transmitting knowledge in the first years of formal study, have a teaching tool with great educational content. Revaluing ancestral teaching methods was done through their stories, restructuring and grouping them (Lozano, 1998) into four parts according to the degree of complexity and depth for easy understanding. In this way, it will be possible to promote identity and encourage the protection of heri-tage in young students at the primary level. With the production and dissemination of the manual resulting from the research, it was possible to apply the educational elements of Popol Wuj to promote the protection of the cultural, documentary and historical heritage that still exists in a text that will be available in print to a limited group of people, and digitally to the entire interested population, highlighting ancestral forms of teaching.
