La Investigación sobre el significado de la indumentaria ceremonial maya de la comunidad lingüística k’iche’ del departamento de Sololá, surge como una necesidad ante el poco conocimiento y significado sobre los elementos cosmogónicos presentes en estos por parte de oriundos del contexto, esto es por los diferentes factores que han contribuido a la pérdida de la identidad cultural; la investigación pretendió determinar el nivel de conocimiento que tienen las personas de la población sobre el significado, la elaboración de la indumentaria ceremonial y sus íconos cosmogónicos en su tejido, así como averiguar los factores que inciden en la falta de conocimiento, pero también sistematizar el conocimiento ancestral en la elaboración de los mismos. Por las características de la investigación, el enfoque fue cualitativo, lo cual se basó en el método etnográfico que consiste en el análisis la descripción e interpretación de manera sistemática a la cultura de los grupos sociales, apto para estudios sociológicos, culturales y antropológicos, se auxiliará en la técnica de la entrevista semi estructurada la observación participante y la teoría fundamentada. Al finalizar la investigación por medio de la documentación sobre el significado de la indumentaria ceremonial de cada municipio, el significado cosmogónico de los elementos que componen los tejidos y la sistematización del proceso de elaboración de los trajes, presentados en el informe, un catálogo y el artículo científico, se fortalecerá la identidad y la pertenencia cultural de cada población, aspectos que impactará en la sociedad, la cultura, la educación contextual y el desarrollo integral de los pueblos.

Research on the meaning of the Mayan ceremonial clothing of the K'iche' linguistic community of the department of Sololá, arises as a necessity due to the little knowledge and meaning of the cosmogonic elements present in them by natives of the context, this is due to the different factors that have contributed to the loss of cultural identity; The research aimed to determine the level of knowledge that the people of the population have about the meaning, the elaboration of the ceremonial clothing and its cosmogonic icons in its fabric, as well as to find out the factors that affect the lack of knowledge, but also to systematize the ancestral knowledge in their elaboration. Due to the characteristics of the investigation, the approach was qualitative, which was based on the ethnographic method that consists of the analysis, the description and interpretation in a systematic way to the culture of the social groups, suitable for sociological, cultural and anthropological studies, Participant observation and grounded theory will assist in the technique of the semi-structured interview. At the end of the investigation through the documentation on the meaning of the ceremonial clothing of each municipality, the cosmogonic meaning of the elements that make up the fabrics and the systematization of the process of making the costumes, presented in the report, a catalog and the scientific article, the identity and cultural belonging of each population will be strengthened, aspects that will impact society, culture, contextual education and the integral development of the peoples.
