Actualmente existen estudios sobre la Municipalidad Indígena de Sololá. Sin embargo, no hay investigaciones sobre los chinamitales en su condición de base territorial, social y política del pueblo kaqchikel. La investigación sobre “Los chinamitales y la reconfiguración del poder comunal en el municipio de Sololá: 1950-2000” tuvo los siguientes objetivos: (a) General: Estudiar la naturaleza de los chinamitales y la reconfiguración del poder comunal en el municipio de Sololá en la segunda mitad del siglo XX. (b) Específicos: Describir los rasgos socio-políticos de los chinamitales; Identificar los factores que incidieron en la decadencia y desaparición de los chinamitales; Determinar la transición de los chinamitales a cantones, y Analizar los mecanismos de resistencia y reconfiguración de la organización socio-política del pueblo kaqchikel. Constituyo una investigación con enfoque cualitativo, cuyas fases fueron: a) Recolección de información documental, oral e iconográfica. b) Procesamiento, sistematización y análisis de datos. c) Sistematización de información. Se aplicaron las técnicas de revisión documental, entrevistas e interpretación de fuentes iconográficas. Este trabajo aporta al conocimiento de esa organización socio-política en el municipio de Sololá, específicamente sobre (a) la naturaleza, papel y ubicación geográfica de cada chinamital; (b) sus mecanismos de resistencia y lucha, y (c) su reconfiguración ante el sistema político estatal, de 1950 a 2000. Además, se realizo un análisis histórico y contextual del objeto de este estudio.

Currently there are studies on the Indigenous Municipality of Solola. However, there is no research on the Chinamites as the territorial, social and political base of the Kaqchikel people. The research on "The chinamitales and the reconfiguration of communal power in the municipality of Solola: 1950-2000" had the following objectives: a) General: Study the nature of the chinamitales and the reconfiguration of communal power in the municipality of Solola in the second half of the 20th century. b) Specific: i. Describe the socio-political features of the chinamitales; ii. Identify the factors that influenced the decline and disappearance of the chinamitales. iii. Determine the transition from chinamitales to cantons, and iv. Analyze the mechanisms of resistance and reconfiguration of the socio-political organization of the Kaqchikel people It constituted an investigation with a qualitative approach, whose phases were: a) Collection of documentary, oral and iconographic information. b) Processing, systematization and analysis of data. c) Systematization of information. The techniques of documentary review, interviews and interpretation of iconographic sources were applied. This work contributes to the knowledge of this socio-political organization in the municipality of Solola, specifically about (a) the nature, role and geographical location of each chinamital; (b) its mechanisms of resistance and struggle, and (c) its reconfiguration before the state political system, from 1950 to 2000. In addition, a historical and contextual analysis of the object of this study will be necessary.
