La tumba 10 del sitio arqueológico Vega del Cobán fue encontrada y excavada en 2022, parte de la estructura C1-6 que contiene en su interior el recinto mortuorio, fue descubierto en ese mismo año. En 2024, mediante la investigación cofinanciada por la Dirección General de Investigación DIGI, se logró intervenir la estructura de forma intensiva, se excavó en su totalidad y, además, se rescató evidencia de enterramientos aún conservados a inmediaciones de la tumba, en la parte sur. Debido a que la tumba 10 fue saqueada entre los años 40s a 90s, el hallazgo de los enterramientos es muy importante, ya que en 2022 solamente se contaba con evidencias arquitectónicas. En este caso, las ofrendas, osamentas y materiales asociados, brindaron más información para conocer y acercar a la cultura y sociedad que habitó en tan importante sitio de la región del Motagua Medio. Durante el año entero de investigación, se logró trabajar mediante técnicas de excavación, la liberación completa de los muros; con estrategias de conservación, el resguardo de la tumba y evidencias asociadas, así como la recuperación y análisis de material cerámico, obsidiana y jade, que son muy relevantes para el estudio. Paralelo a la investigación arqueológica, se dio importancia en mantener y fortalecer la comunicación con la comunidad para demostrar el valor cultural del patrimonio que poseen en la aldea Vega del Cobán, así como a una población en general que visitó y se interesó en la arqueología del sitio.

Tomb 10 of the Vega del Cobán archaeological site was found and excavated in 2022, part of the C1-6 structure that contains the mortuary enclosure inside, was discovered in that same year. In 2024, through research co-financed by the General Directorate of DIGI Research, the structure was intensively intervened, it was excavated in its entirety and, in addition, evidence of burials still preserved in the vicinity of the tomb, in the southern part, was recovered. Because tomb 10 was looted between the 40s and 90s, the discovery of the burials is very important, since in 2022 there was only architectural evidence. In this case, the offerings, bones and associated materials provided more information to understand and get closer to the culture and society that inhabited such an important site in the Middle Motagua region. During the entire year of research, it was possible to work through excava-tion techniques, the complete liberation of the walls; with conservation strategies, the protection of the tomb and associated evidence, as well as the recovery and analysis of ceramic, obsidian and jade material, which are very relevant to the study. Para-llel to the archaeological research, importance was given to maintaining and strengthening communication with the community to demonstrate the cultural value of the heritage they have in the Vega del Cobán village, as well as to a general population that visited and became interested in the archeology of the place.
